Pussy Willow -
The dots of light in the background were
some clear holiday lights strung through the garden.
No flash was used and the clear lights appear to be orange
colored in the photo. The tiny clear lights looked really
nice rambling through the plantings.
Backlit sunflower from our yard.
These sunflowers are only about 20 inches tall.
I would like to have a huge group of them for cutting and photographing.
They were hard to grow because the rabbits or deer would eat them as soon as they came up.
We only got a few of what we planted.
Tulip with Japanese painted fern in the background.
Taken on a cold, rainy and very windy March day at Powell Gardens.
I like this image because the tulip was so bright and colorful on an otherwise wintry-like day.
I am surprised that it is in focus considering how windy it was.
This calla lily was growing outdoors in a boggy and shady area at Powell Gardens.
It seemed to be a bright spot in the shade and was mostly lost in a group of iris.
Black and white seemed to fit this better than color.
I liked the color combination of this yellow columbine and the blue salvia.
We once had a huge yellow columbine plant in our front garden
but it eventually died because of the rabbits digging under it
to build their fur-lined nests.
